The Cannon Hill State School Curriculum is based on the Australian Curriculum (F-10).
We are strongly influenced by Our Vision and recognise that community, the environment, resources, pedagogy, values, and relationships contribute to the shaping of the curriculum.  We work collaboratively to create a working and enacted curriculum where curiosity, interest and engagement of the learner is the focus.
Reggio Emilia
Teachers at Cannon Hill State School have been inspired by the educational project of the Reggio Emilia schools in Northern Italy.
This practice is based on relationships, participation, inquiry and a belief in human intelligence and potential, specifically in the innate capacities of children. We study this research from Reggio Emilia to provoke us and help us engage in our own research at Cannon Hill State School.
Teachers document the ideas and theories that children share when they are collaboratively investigating provocations that have been presented to them. This makes their thinking visible. Some of their theories may be tested and published. Other ideas may be produced or represented as written or graphic text. You may be surprised, as we often are, by the depth of thinking that children bring.
As students move through the school, they will complete projects based around the curriculum and their interests.
Past projects have included: Colour; City Movement and Water Park; Bees; Leadership and Passion; Transformation; Shadows; What are Fly Skins Made Of; Beauty; Chickens and Sunflowers; Colour of Happiness; Power Physics; Volcanoes; Paper Planes; Light.
