We do not run a tuckshop at Cannon Hill State School, but we do run alternative meal options on some days.
Alternative School Lunch Program
Our local store (Cannon Hill Friendly Grocer) runs an alternative school lunch program for our students, with orders placed on Thursdays for delivery on Fridays. Phone orders may be placed directly by phoning the store directly on (07) 3399 7628.
Order forms are made available to parents periodically through the Konnective system. Please check your latest Konnective messages on the subject in case any of these particulars change.
At Cannon Hill State School, we participate in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program. Students engage in growing vegetables and fruit, caring for chickens, and cooking in the specially designed kitchen.
As part of this program, lunch meals cooked by students are regularly available for all students to purchase and sit around tables to eat together. This service replaces the former school tuckshop and is more like a student provided café meal with healthy and hearty food prepared. The school pizza oven is put to work each term to provide some of the best pizzas you can imagine.
Children learn to grow and enjoy vegetables and fruit that they might otherwise avoid.
Most Thursdays during term, the School and P&C run a Breakfast Club from 8.15am in the Assembly area, providing a nutritious breakfast and catch-up opportunity for students, their families and school staff.
